Jack Fanning Memorial – Angels for Autism

Peter Castellana III, Peter Castellana Jr. and the Castellana Foundation are thrilled to support the Jack Fanning Memorial – an organization that touches our hearts and truly inspires us with their ability to persevere in the face of great tragedy.

About The Jack Fanning Memorial Foundation

The Jack Fanning Memorial Foundation is a 100% volunteer 501(c)3 charitable organization based of concerned families and friends who genuinely care about improving the lives of autistic individuals. This organization was founded in memory of FDNY Battalion Chief, Haz Mat Operations, Jack Fanning, who perished in the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. Jack understood, first hand, the desperate need for research and educational requirements for families dealing with autism because he left behind two severely autistic sons, Sean and Patrick.

Two weeks before the attacks on our country, Jack thoughtfully discussed his desire to open a residential group home for children with autism to his wife, Maureen. In the weeks after, it became apparent that his final wish would become this group’s passion. The organization is firmly committed to providing the autistic population with additional resources that help to advance them in becoming productive citizens. Establishing a group home in Jack’s memory was their primary goal, but the mission continues. Until a known cause and cure are fully understood, this Foundation will continue to work to make an immediate difference in the lives of those afflicted with autism.

Early detection and prompt treatment can enable children across the entire autism spectrum to assume meaningful and productive lives. The Jack Fanning Memorial Foundation is committed to aiding the autistic community with the appropriate research and educational opportunities needed to advance their lives.

The Jack Fanning Memorial Foundation describes Jack Fanning’s personal influence on the work of their organization as follows:

It is the intent of this organization to fulfill Jack’s final wish. Those who knew Jack remember a patient, humble – yet heroic man, who had a genuine love for people and mankind. He often said that he was the one who learned more from his 2 autistic children, than they learned from him… Jack was proud of the small accomplishments that the boys made and they relished in his love. The qualities that he possessed have been the cornerstone upon which his dream has been built. Just like his quiet manner, the Foundation has quietly persevered and we’ve made great contributions to those who are less fortunate. We will continue this legacy for years to come with your help.

The De La Salle School

Peter Castellana III, Peter Castellana Jr. and the Castellana Foundation would like to congratulate the students at The De La Salle School on the completion of a successful first semester.  Over the holidays, we were able to make a donation to their school and are so thrilled to support an institution that has had such a positive impact in their community.

The De La Salle School is a tuition-free Catholic middle school in the Lasallian tradition for young men in grades 5 through 8.  Their students are economically disadvantaged, many from troubled school districts, and most are immigrants or sons of immigrants.

The mission of The De La Salle School, which opened in September of 2002, and possesses a permanent charter from the University of the State of New York, is to provide a quality education for young men so they can become active and informed citizens who contribute to the betterment of their communities and the world.

Warriors in Motion

Peter Castellana III, Peter Castellana Jr. and Castellana Foundation, along with Western Beef, are proud to announce that we are continuing our strong relationship with the Adaptive Sports Foundation’s Warriors in Motion program by making a substantial food donation.

The Adaptive Sports Foundation’s Warriors in Motion program allows the opportunity for wounded warriors to engage in sports, outdoor activity, and recreation. The program integrates aspects of wellness and healthy living in order to help veterans not only with their physical health, but also with their emotional and psychological well-being.

We find the work these two foundations are doing to be truly inspiring and are glad to be able to support such a worthy cause.
