The Castellana Foundation is a proud sponsor of the Nassau Kings Wheelchair Basketball  Team, recently donating $1200 to help spread awareness for the disabled community.

The Nassau Kings Wheelchair Basketball Team was organized in 1987 by National Wheelchair Basketball Hall of Famer Jack Graff. The Nassau Kings plays the majority of their home games (along with their practices) at Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY.

It was Jack Graff’s intent and goal to organize and provide a competitive Wheelchair Basketball Team in Nassau County to promote the sport of Wheelchair Basketball for the disabled of the county and nearby areas.

The Kings is a member of the Eastern Wheelchair Basketball Conference (estb. 1953) and the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (estb. 1949).

In addition, to the team’s competitive schedule, the Kings provide an educational format to different schools in the county. The team members give presentations on such ‘challenges’ and ‘awareness’ at different schools each year.

The team has accumulated many awards over the years, including the following accolades:

2011 Mayor’s Cup Champions
2012 Matthew Sapolin Champions
2013 Al Youkim Tourney Champions

Peter Castellana III, Peter Castellana Jr. and the Castellana Foundation find these athletes truly inspiring and are glad to be able to support their organization as well as their mission.
