The Castellana Foundation proudly announces its support for Cycle for Survival cancer research fundraiser. The Castellana Foundation’s involvement is being led by Anthony Brannan, leading principal of Metro Holdings & Development, the strategic partner of many of Cactus Holdings real estate developments. This is Anthony’s 6th year participating in the fundraiser. Cycle for Survival has raised over $41 million so far this year, beating last years number of $39 million.
Here’s a brief description of the non-profit organization Cycle for Survival from their website:
“Half of all patients are fighting a rare cancer.
About 50 percent of people with cancer have a rare cancer. Rare cancers include brain, pancreatic, ovarian, stomach, all types of pediatric cancers, and many others. Even though they account for about half of all cancer diagnoses when combined, research on many rare cancers is drastically underfunded, often leaving patients with limited or no treatment options. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center—the world’s oldest and largest private cancer center—is committed to changing that reality. MSK’s close collaboration between doctors and researchers is a unique strength: new drugs and therapies developed in the lab can be moved quickly to patients’ bedsides.
Cycle for Survival’s indoor team cycling events raise funds that are critical for rare cancer research.
100% of every donation to Cycle for Survival is directly allocated to research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center within six months of the events. The donations go to pioneering research and clinical trials, and have already led to new and better treatments for cancer patients worldwide. Memorial Sloan Kettering researchers collaborate with institutions around the world, and have led the way in developing new ways to diagnose and treat cancer. If you want to fight back against cancer, join us!”
The Castellana Foundation, on behalf of Cactus Holdings, Western Beef, the Castellana family, and strategic partner Metro Holdings & Development, proudly supports Cycle for Survival and intends to continue supporting the cause of researching cancer in hopes of one day obtaining a cure which will save lives and endless heartache to countless families and communities. The Castellana Foundation, Western Beef, parent company Cactus Holdings and President Peter Castellana III, proudly announce their support for GrowNYC who will facilitate food donations to families for the Thanksgiving holidays at their Food Hub at Grand Army Plaza. GrowNYC helps New Yorkers by providing essential services and taking action to make NYC a truly livable city, one where every person can flourish. They achieve this through their Green Market which provides a means for local farmers to sell their products to New York City communities, their recycling program, gardening program which spans the five boroughs, and through education. For the Castellana Foundation, the causes that GrowNYC addresses are ones that the foundation and companies are not only already engaged with, but causes we truly care about and therefore are thrilled to be able to help in a small way by donating turkeys for this year’s Thanksgiving.
Peter Castellana III, Peter Castellana Jr. and the Castellana Foundation, along with Western Beef were happy to support Ronald McDonald House of Long Island by donating $2,500 so they could keep on giving comfort and shelter to families experiencing the pain of having sick child in local hospital facilities. For 30 years the house has been a “home away from home” to over 21,000 families from Long Island and NY Metropolitan area. The home provides the parents and siblings of these children with a temporary haven in a secure and comfortable environment among other families sharing a similar burden.
