The Castellana Foundation, Cactus Holdings, subsidiary Western Beef, and Peter Castellana III on behalf of the Castellana family proudly supports The Obbayo Foundation of Hightstown, NJ. The organization’s main mission is to provide the necessary means for young children in Senegal to remain in school where otherwise economic pressures might lead them to a life of panhandling.
Here is a message from the company’s Co-founder, Thierry Sarr, whom also serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Cactus Holdings.
“The story (from the co-founder): Over the past 5 years, I have been sending huge boxes at least twice a year with clothes and dry goods to underprivileged children. I’ve also traveled to Senegal once a year, visiting my family but also trying to figure out how I can make a difference. From the airport to my house, I always had mixed feelings, on one hand I consider myself fortunate because I made it and I am able to visit my family but on the other hand I was heartbroken, seeing the number of young children on the streets begging for food and money. I knew I wanted to help but I did not know how at the time, now I came to the conclusion that organizing a charity is the ANSWER.”
The Castellana Foundation is proud of its involvement with this amazing project, which can provide anything from basic dry good to solar panels. For more information on this charity, please visit their website.
Peter Castellana III, Peter Castellana Jr. and the Castellana Foundation, along with Western Beef were happy to make a $500 contribution to St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters which they have used to feed those who are poor in body and spirit.
St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters:
The current economic uncertainty and decreases in the workforce have placed additional burdens on the St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters. Rather than be measured by the DOW or the S&P indexes, our clients’ highs and lows are measured by their ability to eat, find employment, feel safe, and obtain reasonable housing. As the market decreases by 20-40%, the number of clients we serve each week increases. Each week more and more families come to us seeking help to feed themselves. Currently, the St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters serve over 1.2 million meals each year.
The St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters is a network of food and service programs for the poor that provide a wide range of services to feed, clothe, counsel, and alleviate physical and emotional hunger in a dignified and supportive manner. The St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters takes a comprehensive approach in providing and supporting services that eradicate not only hunger, but the structural causes of hunger. The St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters supports a network of charitable programs that provide a broad range of services for those in need, including the provision of food, clothing, shelter, and related social services for the poor.
There are more than 40 non-profit Food Pantries, Soup Kitchens, Safe Havens, Drop In Centers and Shelters supported by St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey. Each location designed their “pantry” with programs to best serve their locations. Full-time social workers are available to meet the needs of clients at each location.
In recognition and celebration of the critical life saving work of the FDNY, department, The Castellana Foundation, along with Peter Castellana III and Peter Castellana Jr, were honored to donate $1000 at the FDNY foundation dinner.
